Bowman County Planning and Zoning

The Department of Planning and Zoning is responsible for administration of the Bowman County zoning and subdivision regulations, staff support to the Bowman County Planning and Zoning Board, and long-range planning for land use and development in Bowman County.

County Planning & Zoning Minutes

June 25, 2019
7:00 pm

The Bowman County Planning and Zoning Commission met in regular session June 25, 2019, in the Commission Room of the Bowman County Courthouse.  Members present were Jerry Jeffers, Mike Sondeland, Myron Vail, Lynn Brackel, Jerid Janikowski, and Doyle Kruger and Co-Zoning Director Jodi Freier.  The following commission members were absent Ryan Shear, Rod Schaaf and Robb Pierce. Co-Zoning Director Dean Pearson was also absent.   Guest: Carol Miller. 

Chairman Jeffers called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM. 

Sondeland made a motion to approve the minutes from May 7, 2019, and the minutes from the Public Hearing, which was held on May 30, 2019.  Janikowski seconded the motion, and upon a vote the motion was carried unanimously.   

Janikowski made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permits, submitted by Fisher Sand & Gravel Co., for the placement of gravel pits located in NW1/4 and SW1/4 and N1/2 of SE1/4 Section 10, Township 131N Range 103W and N1/2 of Section 16, and N1/2 Section 16, Township 130N Range 103W.  The approval allows for a maximum one-year time frame.  Vail seconded the motion, and upon a vote the motion was carried unanimously. 

Old Business:

Due to duplicate numbering of Resolution # 8 Janikowski made a motion to change the numbering of Resolution # 8, which was previously approved on May 30, 2019, to Resolution # 10, with Sondeland seconding the motion, and upon a vote the motion was carried unanimously.  

Brackel made a motion to add the following to further define the sections to the Bowman County Zoning Ordinance manual, with Kruger seconding the motion, and upon a vote the motion was carried unanimously.

New Business

Discussion was held on updating the 2012 Bowman County Zoning Ordinance manual.   The board tabled the discussion and requested the Co-Zoning Directors to research options and present information during the August 2019 meeting. 

There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Jeffers adjourned the meeting at 7:54 PM.
